Half-Slovenian from my wonderful mum, I feel very proud whenever I visit Ljubljana, Slovenia’s beautiful capital city. I love the lush, green landscape and the inspiring culture.
Ljubljana’s symbol, the Ljubljana Dragon, which is shown on the top of the tower at Ljubljana Castle and on the city’s coat of arms symbolises power, courage, and greatness. I adore Ljubljana because you’re never short of things to see. You can visit the wonderful Ljubljana Castle, Dragon’s Bridge, Triple’s Bridge, Tivoli Park, Preseren Square, Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and the Town Hall.
Ljubljana has been awarded European Green Capital 2016 due to its excellent transformation in sustainability for the last 10 – 15 years. Honestly, it’s hardly surprising that Ljubljana holds this title because it’s so clean. Pedestrianising the city centre has helped achieved this wonderful accolade. Ljubljana encourages the use of public transport and more recently, Slovenska Street has seen traffic modification with only public transport now passing through it.
Ljubljana is always stunning to visit and I decided to take an evening stroll to take some photographs. I hope you’ll enjoy them…
