There’s something very enchanting about visiting castles. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Lumley Castle, it’s absolutely beautiful.
Built over 600 years ago by Ralph, Lord Lumley, it’s a wonderful part of County Durham, located in the North East of England. The castle is steeped in the local history of Durham and there’s plenty to see, including parklands and a lovely view of the River Wear.
The 14th century Grade I listed building was turned into a large hotel in 1976. The interior décor is magnificent.
It would have been rude not to have afternoon tea while visiting Lumley Castle (you know I need very little persuasion to indulge in a macaron… or two!). It was very yummy!
Entry to Lumley Castle is free. Grand Afternoon Tea costs £14.95 per person.
