The Kill Cover Ampoule Cushion Foundation from Clio is a triple threat: it moisturises, has sun protection and provides a beautiful dewy glow. If you expect a lot from your foundation, this certainly won’t disappoint!
First of all, cushion foundations aren’t a new make up phenomenon. Ever since they hit Korean beauty shelves back in 2008 (the West eventually caught up), you’ll find them in the make up bags of beauty enthusiasts across the globe. However, because there are so many offering from countless brands, it can be tricky finding the perfect colour match.
I spotted this foundation in Olive Young during my holiday to Korea a few years ago (forgive me for taking so long to write this review!). I can’t remember what drew me to this particular foundation but it’s now one of my holy grail items!
Nourishing ingredients to soothe skin
This cushion contains SPF 50+ PA+++ sun care, which is ideal as a top-up to your regular sun cream. Of course, like many of you, I don’t get my main source of sun protection from make up (you all know I’m obsessed with sun cream!).
Another key ingredient is niacinamide, which is well-known in the beauty community thanks to it ability to brighten and help skin retain moisture. Adenosine soothes irritated skin (hello, redness or rosacea!) and also has anti-ageing properties. Extracts of betula alba bud and moringa oleifera seed moisturise and soothe skin.
Simple to use Kill Clio cushion foundation
This baby glides onto my skin with minimal effort. I don’t have to push the product around my face or spend time blending it in. A few light taps and I’m done!
With my pale complexion, it’s often a challenge finding a colour match but 02-Lingerie is perfect for my skin tone. It’s a lovely subtle rose-beige shade. Other shades include linen, ginger and sand.
This Clio ampoule cushion covers blemishes and dark spots perfectly to give me a natural, healthy complexion. Heavy coverage foundations often suffocate my sensitive skin and I don’t want my skin to look like I’m wearing a mask. Fortunately, this cushion foundation has a lightweight formula to help my skin breathe. It’s buildable, so I can apply more, depending on how my skin feels that day.
The Kill Cover Ampoule Cushion Foundation from Clio also conceals redness and my mild rosacea brilliantly. Redness across my cheeks and nose instantly disappears. Because it has an ampoule-based formula, it soothes my skin and provides an instant moisture boost akin to applying an actual ampoule or essence. It has serious staying power, too (a godsend with having a wear mask all the time.)
I’m thrilled it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my skin whenever I apply this. My skin is covered and hydrated (sometimes this can be bothersome in the height of summer but my make up stays put). More importantly, it doesn’t pill with my many layers of skin care.
I’m obsessed with this foundation! Needless to say, I have already repurchased it several times. Have you used this cushion foundation before? I’d love to know your thoughts!
