My review of the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence highlights my ability to forget about price tags when buying a cult beauty product. Sure, it may be the most expensive beauty product in my skin care collection but that doesn’t stop me loving it. Disclaimer: I did feel slightly sick handing over my credit card for just under £250 for two bottles but I have no regrets.
Considering it’s a Japanese beauty product, it would make perfect sense to buy this in Japan, right? Only a fool would buy it in another country, one that charges considerably more than the recommended retail price…
But that’s what happens when your suitcase is overflowing with skin care and heavy shoes after a holiday to Japan. Your suitcase ends up horrifically over the baggage allowance. To cut a long story short, it meant I couldn’t buy anything else in Japan. Hence why I had to buy this essence at Dubai airport on my way home. Learn from my mistakes, people!
One of SK-II’s bestselling products, it aims to smooth skin texture and remove any roughness. If you’re keen to tackle fine lines or wrinkles, you’ll be pleased to know this claims to reduce the appearance of both and give you an enviable radiant complexion. You know how serious I am about sun safety and this essence also prevents dark spots forming by improving the skin’s barrier.
Containing an impressive 90% of SK-II’s innovative Pitera™ formula (their brand name for galactomyces ferment filtrate), this clear liquid is packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and organic acids essential for a healthy glow.
This by-product of yeast fermentation was actually discovered over 35 years ago. Impressed by how smooth brewers’ hands were after working with sake, scientists at SK-II tested over 350 different strains of yeast to find the perfect formula. That’s dedication.
First of all, this is suitable for all skin types. Even those with rosacea. I use several products each day so anything that’s simple to use is a winner in my book. All I need to do after cleansing and toning my skin, is apply a ten pence piece sized amount to my hands or on a cotton pad and pat it onto my face and neck. I wait a couple and minutes and follow up with my usual serums and moisturiser.
It’s easily absorbed into my skin thanks to its lightweight texture. My skin looks and feels moisturised, is visibly plumper and brighter. Any rough patches of skin, particularly around my chin, nose and forehead are super smooth.
Not to sound overdramatic but I’m in love with the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. To the point where I almost shed a tear when I finished my first bottle. Thank goodness I bought two!
Trust me, this is one of the best cult beauty products that’s worth the hype. When a skin care product is as impressive as this, it’s begging to be repurchased, right? Shhh, I can already hear my purse crying at the thought of bottle three. Oops.
