It’s a total understatement to say I’ve been dying to review the Shangpree Marine Jewel Illuminating Mask. After all, when it comes to Korean skin care, I have a real fear of missing out. Considering I keep seeing this sheet mask on numerous Instagram feeds, I did well to resist temptation this long.
Until I went to South Korea. My ‘no beauty buy’ didn’t just go out the window on my holiday, I pretty much stomped all over it. Totally worth it because I bought so many cult beauty products, like this beautiful sheet mask.
Shangpree knows the power of beautiful product packaging. Surrounded by more sheet masks than I’d ever seen in my life in Olive Young, this stood out straight away thanks to its pretty design. The smell is even better, with a light and refreshing scent that’s so appealing.
Containing an impressive range of ingredients, this sheet mask aims to promote a youthful complexion by boosting collagen and moisture levels in the skin. As the name suggests, it’s packed with ingredients from the sea, like algae to soften skin.
An innovative s-marine jewel complex, sea water and sodium DNA purifies skin, clears pores and encourages a youthful glow by targeting wrinkles and calming inflammation in the skin. Green sea fingers extract is a type of seaweed rich in antioxidants to repair and hydrate skin.
Continuing the sea theme, chitosan is another key ingredient in this sheet mask. Derived from crustaceans, it’s an antioxidant and a stabilised form of vitamin C to moisturise skin and eliminate dehydration. Not just a superfood for your morning smoothie, spirulina extracts have excellent anti-ageing properties to smooth and tone skin. Spirulina is also full of vitamins and minerals to detox skin.
Marine plankton is an excellent skin care ingredient that offers additional moisture. Sea whip extract is helpful for soothing sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. Brown seaweed is high in antioxidants like polyphenols (also found in red wine) to encourage a brighter complexion.
Arginine increases collagen levels in the skin and boosts hydration. Allantoin is a popular anti-ageing skin care ingredient for dealing with fine lines and promoting a healthy chok chok glow. Pearl extracts also contribute to a glowing complexion and oyster has superb skin care benefits, helping to clear skin.
Oh my god. The fit of this sheet mask was insanely good thanks to the fine material. It was easy to adjust to the contours of the face, particularly my square jaw and my eyes. Ok, so I would have preferred it if it had covered right up to my ears but with a fit this good, I can overlook that.
I was really keen to reduce the appearance of the redness on my cheeks with this sheet mask. Needless to say, I had high hopes for it!
I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this mask. My skin felt instantly cooler and after 20 minutes I was impressed at how bouncy my skin was. It was incredibly hydrated and I felt as if I’d had a facial because I had such a lovely healthy glow!
I was a little disappointed the redness across my cheeks wasn’t less noticeable. However, I would still buy this again in the future because I loved how smooth my skin was. Roughness around my nose had gone and my skin looked softer and tighter.
Never one to waste skin care products, I applied the extra essence from the inner packaging of the sheet mask to my neck while wearing the mask. My neck felt so smooth afterwards! I tapped the extra essence in the packet onto my face and neck before carrying on with the rest of my skin care routine.
I can see why the Shangpree Marine Jewel Mask with Korean beauty fans. When I buy this again, I’ll save it for days my skin needs more hydration as opposed to eliminating redness.
