I must admit that while I’m a self-confessed beauty junkie, I’m ashamed to say that I often forget to apply hand cream as part of my daily routine. Oops.
Our hands are one of the first places to show signs of ageing and neglecting them can result in roughness and dry skin.
It’s frustrating not being able to find suitable hand creams because I want to take care of my hands. I usually find it difficult to find a good hand cream because I’m not keen on greasy creams that take a while to be absorbed into my skin.
I’ve been busy testing hand creams and I’m thrilled to share my latest purchases with you…
Shea Zesty Lime Hand Cream, L’Occitane, £8 for the 30 ml size
I adore citrus scents and this hand cream is amazing. It requires minimal effort to apply, it’s creamy and non-greasy so I don’t have to worry about waiting for it to sink into my skin.
It has the perfect consistency, which makes it a dream to use. The small size means it fits into the smallest of handbags (and I have quite a few of those!). My hands are moisturised for hours after I’ve applied it.
Ingredients include super moisturising shea butter (this tube contains 20%) to nourish skin as well as protecting it.
Marigold & Comfrey Hand & Nail Cream, The Organic Pharmacy, £21.95
This is a little on the pricey side but because this can be used as a hand and nail cream, I justified the spend by the fact that this is two products in one. Bargain!
It has a lovely, subtle scent and is incredibly lightweight. It claims to heal and repair skin. I always notice an immediate improvement whenever I use it.
Marigold is a great anti-bacterial ingredient and comfrey is ideal if you want to soothe skin and keep it looking healthy. Perfect if you’ve been gardening all day! Other ingredients include soothing aloe, jojoba, shea butter and vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract and honey. I love it!
Long-Lasting Moisturizing Hand Cream, Yves Rocher, £3.90
I know what you’re thinking. I’ve gone from an expensive hand cream to a more budget-friendly option in a matter of seconds. Stay with me.
I believe if a product works you shouldn’t judge it by its price. If you don’t believe me, check out my obsession with a ridiculously cheap rose facial oil from dm-drogerie markt.
This paraben-free hand cream is lovely. It contains organic arnica to protect my hands against damaging external factors such as pollution and sun exposure. It has a lovely texture. It melts into my skin with ease so I’d definitely use this again!
Shea Butter Hand Cream, L’Occitane, £8 for the 30 ml size
They don’t call this a best seller for nothing. Much like the zesty lime version I’ve already talked about, this one is unbelievably moisturising.
Made with 20% shea butter, this cream is lightweight and gets to work quickly. It also contains honey, almond extracts and coconut oil to immediately soothe dry skin. The formula is non-greasy, which makes me love it even more!
Cucumber Hand Lotion, Eos at BeautyMart, £8
A dear friend of mine in America knows how obsessed I am with beauty products and always sends me beauty treats in the post. If you live in the UK, I’ve managed to find it online. You’re welcome.
This hand lotion is thinner than the hand creams I’ve tested so I don’t have to use as much. It has a pleasant scent of cucumber and with ingredients such as shea butter, aloe and oats, it’s not hard to see why this so nourishing.
If I’m being perfectly honest, it takes me longer to adjust to this because I’m used to a thicker cream. However, it’s non-greasy (always a bonus) and it absorbs into my skin fairly quickly.
