If your skin is irritated, it kind of makes you want to hide behind your hair doesn’t it? It’s a catch-22 situation because you know you need to calm it with something but every cream you use just seems to irritate your skin further. Sound familiar?
This needn’t be you. Not anymore. I’ve compiled a small selection of my top 4 beauty products that soothe irritated skin.
I have sensitive skin and always have these products in my beauty cabinet… I just never know when my skin will flare up. They’ve definitely been tried and tested over the years…
Aloe Vera Skin Lotion, Dr Organic at Holland & Barrett, £6.99
It’s no secret that aloe vera is great for soothing inflamed skin. I love using this lotion. It contains organic aloe vera to repair my skin if it’s in dire need of TLC.
When my skin is extra sensitive, I use it on my face. The pain of sunburn can be eased with this too. Note: I don’t condone getting sunburnt, please always wear a high factor sun cream!
Skin Food, Weleda, £9.95
This has been hailed as a cult beauty product for years and it’s often seen backstage at fashion weeks worldwide. It smells incredible. I’m not even joking. With sweet orange, wild pansy, calendula and rosemary for ingredients, it’s not hard to see why this smells so yummy.
It deeply replenishes my skin and moisturises dry and flaky patches. My skin can be extremely dry and dehydrated during certain seasons, which is why I always use this for a instant boost.
It immediately soothes my skin if it’s red or feels irritated. It’s gentle enough to use on my face and body.
Calendula Face Cream, Weleda, £8.95
As with Skin Food, this cream contains organic calendula but in a higher concentration. Technically, this has been made for babies (hence the super gentle formula) but I find it’s perfect to use whenever my skin is feeling a bit sore.
It’s absorbed into my skin straight away and it leaves my skin silky smooth. The almond oil moisturises and protects my skin.
Homeoplasmine Ointment Cream, Boiron at BeautyMart, £14
I’m obsessed with this. Seriously. I first became aware of the French cult pomade after seeing it in Vogue Paris, Biba and Jalouse. It’s specifically formulated to tackle skin irritation and repair skin.
The packaging is fantastic, I’m a big fan of beauty products packaged in a tube, there’s less waste! I love the texture. It’s plant-based (it contains calendula) so I don’t have to worry about any nasty ingredients.
I also love using it as a lip balm because it’s incredibly moisturising. It banishes wind-chapped lips in a matter of seconds. I’m so impressed with this.
How about you? Are there any beauty products you swear by when your skin is irritated?
