I don’t know about you but I love summer beauty trends. There’s something irresistible about embracing pastel colours and glowing skin.
I’ve been inspired to scour the beauty world to find some thrilling goodies. Note: it’s virtually impossible to walk into a beauty shop and leave empty handed. Here’s a selection of my current obsessions, some of which I’ve picked up across Europe on my recent travels…
Miss Dior Hair Mist, Dior, £34
First of all, how cute is the packaging?! I’ll admit that presentation is highly appealing to me when it comes to buying products.
This hair mist is light and won’t weigh hair down. It leaves hair smelling fresh with the subtle scent of Miss Dior with notes of bergamot and rose. Perfect.
It also protects unruly hair against the ever-changeable weather so there’ll be no need to scream “it’s the humidity” a la Monica in Friends. It’s definitely going to be a cult favourite.
Wildrose Facial Oil, Alverde at dm-drogerie markt, £2.64
I previously erred on the side of caution with face oils. I have oily/combination skin so I don’t want to use something that will clog my pores or make my face even oilier.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this German rose oil. So much so that I’m never letting it out of my sight. It smells incredible and helps prevent premature skin ageing. It leaves skin feeling refreshed and revitalised and although it’s actually for dry skin it still works wonders for little ol’ me.
After cleansing and toning my skin at night I use this and shortly afterwards I apply my usual night cream. I wake up with supple skin. Heaven.
Kartell Collistar Sexy Look Face and Body Illuminator, Müller, £14.90
I first became aware of this while reading a Slovenian magazine and could not rest until I’d tracked it down. A collaboration between two Italian brands, Collistar and Kartell, this oil will give your face the most delicate shimmer so you can still look heavenly even if you’ve had a late night.
While the two layers might look complex, all you have to do is shake the bottle to mix the oil and disperse the golden flecks equally. It glides onto skin and can be used on your face and body.
Touche Eclat in shade 2, Ivory Radiance, YSL, £25
Not a new product but a darn good one at that. It highlights your best bits and conceals everything from dark circles to discolouration. I use it on the sides of my nose and around my eyes to make my skin appear lifted.
Pro-radiance Illuminating Flash Balm, Elemis, £11.50 (for the 15 ml travel size)
Ever since I returned from my summer holiday last year I’ve been obsessed with illuminated skin. It just looks so healthy. This balm not only helps skin to look more radiant, it also helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles (yay!) and is enriched with vitamins to hydrate your skin.
Pure Blends Blusher in 200 Orchid, Almay at The Colour Purple, £2
No that isn’t a typo. This blusher really does cost less than your regular cup of coffee. Made with a blend of antioxidants including lotus, orchid and acai, it’s a gorgeous colour with a hint of shimmer and ideal for giving you the ‘first flush of youth’ glow. J’adore.
Skin Luminizer Powder, Make Up Factory at Müller, £17
This gorgeous little powder snuck up my during a regular visit to Müller in Ljubljana. It’s perfect for waking up tired skin.
The combination of pearlescent shades of lemon, lilac, peach and pink makes it almost too pretty to use (I said almost…) but once you’ve started to swirl your brush across it, you’ll find it impossible to resist how good it looks on your skin.
I use it over blusher to highlight my cheekbones but it can also be used underneath your eyebrows for extra definition.
