If there’s one thing in my life that I definitely have enough of, it’s lip balm. However, that didn’t stop me recently buying a few more. I was powerless to resist this cute Korean trio. It’s a curse being a beauty junkie you know.
I usually tend to steer clear of novelty lip balms because I’ve been disappointed by so many in the past. More often that not, novelty lip balms can have a strong synthetic smell, which I don’t like.
Here’s what I bought…
Peach Lip Balm, Tony Moly at Mask House, £5.99
Tony Moly is known for quirky packaging and I was curious to try this lip balm. Admittedly, whenever I take it out of my handbag I get a few strange looks from people (this lip balm kind of looks like a nipple!) but it’s a pleasant lip balm to use. It smells INCREDIBLE!
It’s made with super moisturising shea butter and peach fruit extracts so Tony Moly gets kudos for using natural ingredients (it also contains SPF 15) but I don’t think I’d buy this again. Although it makes my lips very soft, I’m a little disappointed that I have to re-apply this quite often. Also, it contains butylparaben, which is an ingredient I prefer to avoid, particularly in a lip balm.
Cherry Lip Balm, Tony Moly at Mask House, £5.99
Similar to the above lip balm, this one has a gorgeous scent, with sweet cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit extracts. It also contains SPF 15, which is great if you’re worried about being in the sun without a bit of sun protection (hello!). I love the design and how moisturised and supple my lips feel after using it.
When I bought this I was unable to check the ingredients list and I have to admit I was a little devastated when I found the ingredients online and spotted methylparaben, phenoxyethanol butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, propylparaben in the list.
For personal reasons, I prefer to use beauty products that are free from parabens so I’m sure you can understand how frustrating it is to think you’ve found a lovely new product only to discover it contains parabens. Back to the drawing board…
Strawberry Macaron Lip Balm, It’s Skin at Mask House, £4.59
I am obsessed with macarons. To the point where I’m almost on first name terms with the staff at Ladurée! I was thrilled to try this lip balm. First of all, the packaging is my absolute dream! It’s shaped like a macaron, what more could I ask for?
It has the most delicious strawberry scent (FYI: you can get other flavours including grape and chocolate but I really like the smells of strawberries!). Ingredients include vitamins A and E, shea butter and cocoa butter. I’ll be honest, I’m trying limit my use beauty products which contain BHT and styrene, which is why I probably won’t be buying this again.
