Who says a dairy-free Easter has to be boring? As someone with a sweet tooth and an intolerance to dairy, this is an extremely challenging time of year. Particularly when you’re surrounded by tempting chocolate eggs (FYI: my previous favourite Easter egg was Green and Black’s Butterscotch).
Not anymore. I’ve found a few delicious dairy-free treats to enjoy.
Organic and Dairy-Free Bunnycomb Chocolate Easter Egg with Buttons, Moo Free at Morrisons, £4 for 120g
I can’t wait to try this. I love honeycomb but sometimes it’s difficult to find it in dairy-free chocolate. This Moo Free (what a cute name!) egg is organic and free from dairy, casein, gluten, lactose, soya and wheat. It’s also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Ingredients include organic cocoa and rice powder, honeycomb toffee and natural flavouring. The honeycomb toffee is mixed into the chocolate shell. This egg even comes with buttons!
Dark Chocolate Foiled Mini Eggs, Divine Fairtrade at TK Maxx, £2.99 for 170g
I have a confession to make. I actually bought a packet of these a few weeks ago and found them too yummy to resist eating before Easter. I was so impressed with them that I bought more.
I LOVE dark chocolate and these little mini eggs are 70% dark chocolate. Wonderful. Made using Fairtrade cocoa from the Kuapa Kokoo co-operative in Ghana, these are absolutely delicious.
They’re dairy-free and also suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Unlike certain kinds of dark chocolate, these don’t contain soya. Hurrah! I don’t have an intolerance to soya but I like to avoid it as much as I can.
How about you! Are there any treats you’ll be enjoying this Easter?
