Who else is obsessed with BB creams? I can’t get enough of them. I’m hoping that you’re reading this with a smile on your face, because like me you’re equally in love with them. If not, then I’m going to convince you that they are the best thing since rose macarons (FYI: Given the chance I will bring up macarons in any situation).
Whether you call them beauty balms or blemish balms, they all do the same thing. After just one application your skin is glowing and instantly refreshed while covering up any blemishes or discolouration. BB creams are perfect to wear in the summer when you need cover up but don’t want to wear heavy foundation.
They originated in Germany but seem to have taken the Korean beauty world by storm over the years. Typically they are many products rolled into one: moisturiser, concealer and sun cream.
Here are a few amazing BB creams I’ve been testing…
Ideal Soleil Face BB Tinted Velvety Cream, SPF 50, Vichy, £15.50
This is ideal to use in very hot weather (hello Croatia!) because it has a very high SPF factor. It protects skin against UVB and UVA rays which both contribute to skin ageing. Although I’m super pale the natural tan shade still suits my skin tone to a certain degree. I’ll admit that I have to even out my skin colour with a touch of concealer afterwards but overall, this is pleasure to use!
Sensibio AR BB Cream, Bioderma at Feel Unique, £15
I love Bioderma so I was excited to try this one. AR stands for anti redness (perfect for girls who suffer from rosacea). I purchased the light shade, which suits my skin really well. It’s very creamy to apply and doesn’t take forever to blend in. Hurrah! It’s made with natural ingredients such as ginkgo biloba and green tea to help reduce inflammation. The SPF 30 is a bonus too!
Beauty Balm in Light, Aok, €3
I bought this on holiday a few months ago but I’ve just started using it. First of all the price is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G so I can’t fault this product on value for money. The texture is very creamy which makes it easy to apply. I bought the lightest shade but I often blend a little concealer on to ensure my make up matches my skin tone.
Water Fuse Beauty Balm, Dr Jart+ at Boots, £18
This is an absolute dream to use. My skin can often be quite dry but it feels instantly moisturised after using this. The colour is a lot lighter than the others I’ve used and it’s the one that matches my skin colour the most. The SPF 25 in this means I get a bit of extra skin protection on top of my normal sun cream.
