Ladies, gird your loins and get ready for a mad scramble for Balmain’s H&M collection on 5th November (online and selected stores) . I for one can’t wait!
High street and fashion designer collaborations always make me weak at the knees. Seriously. No amount of cold weather can deter me from queuing up at an ungodly hour to bag a piece of fashion history.
I recall spending an extremely cold November morning back in 2010 waiting outside H&M for the Lanvin collection. Queuing at 4am on a frosty morning in Newcastle for Isabel Marant’s range in 2013 was less than thrilling when I realised I could barely feel my feet as the doors opened… I must be mad to put myself through this. I call it dedication…
I’ve narrowed down the H&M designer accessories I have collected over the years to bring you my top 10 favourites.
In no particular order…
1. Alexander Wang keyring
Collection date: November 2014
I actually wanted to buy the full size boxing gloves but they were an instant sell-out (I know what you’re thinking but I would have absolutely had good use for them… they would have been lovely on display and an interesting conversation starter). This adorable keyring is the next best thing.
2. Alexander Wang gloves
I can’t function in cold weather without a pair of gloves and these long sleeve ones are wonderful. I love the panel detailing and the super stretchy neoprene material.
3. Versace scarf
Collection date: November 2011
It wouldn’t be Versace without a bright and bold pattern would it? This alligator scarf is an absolute pleasure to wear.
4. Maison Martin Margiela silver shoes
Collection date: November 2012
I’m such a magpie for anything silver and I was powerless to resist snapping up these glittered beauties. They look amazing with an all black outfit. I love the concealed heel… so chic!
5. Stella McCartney belt
Collection date: November 2005
Chain mail never goes out of style does it? That was my second thought when I saw this super heavy belt (my first was “Oh my god, this is awesome!”). It looks amazing worn over a black skirt.
6. Isabel Marant scarf
Collection date: November 2013
This is one part glamorous cowboy, one part Noel Fielding. I adore the different colours in it and the tassel detailing at the bottom is quirky and fun.
7. Matthew Williamson belt
Collection date: April/ May 2009
I can’t say no to a studded belt at the best of times and this just had to be purchased. I love the contrast between the metallic pink and the gold coloured studs. It’s so rock and roll!
8. Sonia Rykiel bow brooch
Collection date: December 2009
Blair Waldorf would totally fawn over this. Totally. It’s pretty and prim, I love wearing it with a fitted blazer for full-on Blair inspiration.
9. Marni necklace
Collection date: March 2012
This was too good to leave on the shelf. It’s perfect to wear with a crisp white shirt for a contrast of colour.
10. Marni bracelet
This sleek bracelet is fabulous. The bold design is very eye-catching. I love wearing it with a plain jumper for a unique look.
