It’s been a while since I stepped foot in a ballet studio but that hasn’t stopped me being SUPER EXCITED (capital letters are totally justified!) about one of the key trends for autumn/winter this year… it’s all about ballet chic!
I’m sure I’m not alone in lusting after Miu Miu’s naughty but nice ballet flats for a/w 2016 and Carrie Bradshaw’s tulle skirt in Sex and the City. I know, I know, a Sex and the City fashion reference is extremely old but it demonstrates my point perfectly.
What makes this trend so hot right now? Uhm. Simple. What’s NOT to love about it? It’s stylish and comfortable. You couldn’t ask for more than that, could you?
As soon as I saw this top from Stradivarius, I knew I had to have it. The ballet dancer print is so cute. What do you think?
A ballet inspired look would be incomplete without a tulle skirt. This black one from Zara is very pretty. I adore the sparkling detailing. It looks lovely with these white tights. Very Black Swan!
You’ll probably know by now that my shoe obsession is something I can’t seem to quit. Oops. I couldn’t help but be tempted by these beauties from Stradivarius. The square shape at the front is so en pointe (sorry!) for this season and because they’re very comfortable I don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. Perfect.
For my other accessories, I’ve gone for an extravagant bow headband (I love collecting headbands, I’d like to think that my fashion spirit animal is Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf). I’ve also added a delicate opal necklace from Croatia and a bold ring. Huge Balenciaga sunglasses complete my look.
All that’s left for me to do is book my next ballet class. Who’s with me?
Sunglasses, Balenciaga; Headband, Johnny Loves Rosie; Necklace, from a private jeweler in Split, Croatia; Brazilets, Brazilets; T-shirt, Stradivarius; Skirt, Zara; Shoes, Stradivarius; Tights, Topshop; Ring, Miss Selfridge
