If you’re in Split, Croatia and you don’t know the name of the local football team consider yourself officially disowned by the locals. The name of the club, HNK Hajduk Split is seen on everything from street art, murals on the beaches and merchandise so there’s no excuse not to know.
Hajduk Split was founded by students in 1911. The football strip is made up of the traditional home colours (white shirts with blue shorts and socks).
As soon as I saw these Startas by Hajduk canvas trainers I fell in love with them there and then. They’re a limited edition design and only on sale in Croatia so I knew by the time I’d be in Split next (please don’t make me think about how long that will be) they’d be gone.
It’s the small details that make these trainers special. The stitched h on each shoe and the Hajduk Split logo inside the tongue. Every time I wear these I’m reminded of my wonderful summers in Split. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing because post holiday blues really are awful…
