Hurrah! Spring is here and it’s finally time to enjoy the warmer weather. However, it’s no excuse to neglect taking care of our skin in the sun. These UPF 50+ fingerless gloves from Coolibar are ideal for shielding our hands from harsh UV rays.
I know what you’re thinking. No, these aren’t from a sci-fi film. They’re an incredibly efficient way of protecting our hands when we’re out and about. The skin on our hands is very fragile and it’s important to look after them.
I’ve been after a pair of UPF gloves for years. I saw a group of Japanese ladies wearing them in Croatia last year (Japanese women are known for their religious use of sun cream as well as UPF clothing and accessories… something I greatly admire them for!), which made me even more determined to buy some.
What’s great about this unisex pair from Coolibar is how practical they are. I always carry a bottle of sun cream with me but reapplying sun cream to my hands is often a nightmare. These UPF 50+ gloves protect my skin against UVA and UVB rays without the hassle of applying sun cream every two hours.
Made from water-resistant, breathable kit fabric, lycra elastane and supplex® nylon, they’re a lovely fit. They’re stretchy and super soft. I love the small silicone oval pads on the palms too.
Taking care of them is easy. They can be machine washed and dried at a low heat or on the line. My advice before buying a pair is to measure your hands first (the size guide is on the Coolibar website). If you’re between sizes, it’s advisable to get the next size up.
Although I love wearing these, the only disadvantage was having to pay a handling fee (these came from the USA) when I received them. Perhaps I’ll have to look for a UK based alternative!
