A cape is one of my wardrobe staples. It’s terribly exciting wearing something so fabulously dramatic during the day. Clearly I’m not alone in this view as comedian Noel Fielding is partial to a cape or two… #styleinspiration.
As much as I love wearing a cape, I appreciate that it can often be difficult knowing what to wear one with. Here, I’ve dressed up a black cape from Zara in three different ways.
THE JEANS.
The beauty of a black cape is that you can pretty much wear any trousers with it, patterned or plain. Although these patterned jeans have a busy print, they look very chic with the cape. I’ve accessorised this look with a studded headband and suede fringed boots.
The look: Jeans, Isabel Marant for H&M; Headband, Topshop; Boots, Topshop; Top, Uniqlo; Brazilets, Brazilets
THE SKIRT.
Short skirts are great to wear with capes. Here, I’ve gone for a glittered top (Christmas is just around the corner so I thought I’d get into the festive spirit) and boho suede fringed boots. An advantage of the boots is that they keep my legs warm when the temperature drops. Yay! A pair of black earrings adds a final gothic touch.
The look: Earrings, Tally Weijl; Necklace, from an independent jeweller in Ljubljana, Slovenia; Top, Zara; Skirt, Zara; Boots, Promod; Brazilets, Brazilets
THE JUMPER.
I love nothing more than contrasting colours and this striped jumper is perfect to wear with this cape. Fitted black jeans give this outfit a clean silhouette. I’m adore silver boots and these are fabulous. I can’t stop wearing them!
The look: Jumper, Sonia Rykiel; Jeans, J Brand; Earrings, Accessorize; Boots, Jones; Brazilets, Brazilets
