Trying to find a tasty dessert in a café or restaurant when you have several food intolerances (you can read my article about my food intolerances journey here) is extremely challenging. More so when you’re surrounded by tempting gateaux. Thank goodness for Zvezda Café in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
As someone who loves eating cakes, I sincerely miss being able to enjoy them. Particularly black forest and chocolate cakes.
During my last visit to Ljubljana, Slovenia I popped into Zvezda Café. Opened in 1999, the café and restaurant are located in the heart of the picturesque city centre on Wolfova 14. They make a selection of delicious vegan and raw cakes (‘presne sladice’ in Slovenian).
I’m not going to lie, I totally freaked out when I spotted their selection of free-from cakes. There are quite a few to choose from (including raw coconut and raspberry and raw banana chocolate and raspberry cakes) and fortunately I was able to find something for my multiple food intolerances.
This raw banana chocolate cake was absolutely lovely, it’s just a shame it wasn’t presented better on the plate. Customer service could have been greatly improved with certain members of staff too, one of them was very offhand.
Zvezda also sell vegan ice cream made from rice milk (so you know what I’ll be ordering next time I’m there!).
Location: Wolfova 14 (Park Zvezda)
Opening times: Monday – Saturday 7am – 11pm; Sunday- 10am – 9pm
